Our approach

This page explains how SpareClinic actually works — what we do, what we deliberately don't do, and who is responsible for what. It's written to be read, not to protect us.

What we do

SpareClinic connects pharmacies with spare consultation room capacity to independent clinicians. We provide the booking platform, payments, and the communication tools between both parties.

What we collect from clinicians

Every clinician provides a clinic plan declaration as part of onboarding: a description of what clinic they intend to run, a structured treatment menu of the services they plan to offer (for example diagnosis and advice only, prescribing, injectables, or minor procedures), their expected frequency, and their expected patient volume per session.

We also collect their professional registration details and the body they're registered with, along with proof of professional indemnity insurance and photo ID.

What we don't do

SpareClinic does not independently verify a clinician's professional registration status, insurance validity, or whether their planned services require regulatory approvals such as CQC registration.

We are not a regulator, and we do not provide legal or regulatory advice to either party.

How this information is used

A clinician's full clinic plan declaration and registration details are shown directly to the pharmacy before they accept a booking request. It is the pharmacy's decision — as the premises owner — whether to accept a specific clinician and clinic plan into their space.

Pharmacies are encouraged to carry out their own due diligence beyond what is shown on the platform if they wish.

Why we work this way

We believe pharmacies and clinicians are best placed to make informed decisions about their own premises and practice, rather than SpareClinic acting as a gatekeeper. Our role is to make the relevant information visible and easy to act on, not to approve or reject clinic plans ourselves.

A plain note on regulation

Whether a particular clinic needs to be registered with the CQC, or how it sits alongside a pharmacy's GPhC premises registration, depends on the specific services being delivered and the arrangement between the two parties. Both sides should get their own professional or legal advice on this. We can't give it, and we won't guess on your behalf.
